User-Manual for Hangman

What is kHangman

kHangman is a version of the classic letter guessing game Hangman. In which the computer picks a word and you have to figure out the word. In this version you can have different word list and even add your own word list.

How to play

To use once the game is loaded click on it's icon on the iconbar and you are presented with the main game window. On which you have a menu button allowing you to change the word list in use, a New Game button, below that is the start of the gallows which will be added to anytime a wrong letter is pressed. At the right hand edge is the score tally.

Pressing the New Game button starts the game in which the computer will pick a random word from the word list selected and place dashes representing the number of letters in that word or words. Also the 26 letters of the alphabet will be shown.

Click on a letter will either place that letter on one or more dashes below it if correct or if incorrect will add a piece to the gallows and in red show the letter in the incorrect letter pile.

Keep on guessing the letters until you have either won or lost in which case the games played will increase by one and either the win or lose score will incrase by one and a new window will open telling you that you have won or lost and the letter the computer picked with the option to Check Word clicking on that will open a web browser to google search for that word.

If PlayIt has been seem by the filer than the computer will play a random sound sample at the end of the game.

Making your own word list

To create your own word list to use with kHangman first create a text file and give it a name with your list of words and it place in in !kHangman.words one word per line, or if you want a word list for a specific topic more than one word per line is permissible as it will be classified as one word with the spaces shown.

Anything not between A and Z will be displayed instead of a dash.

The maximun length for any word or words is 29 characters long.

Clicking on the iconbar icon for kHangman will then have your new word list available for selection.

Adding your own sound samples

Sound samples can be added as long as they are in the wave format and they go in either !kHangman.Sounds.win for winning sounds or !kHangman.Sounds.lose for loosing sounds.
